Child Death in Movies and Games?

Why is it with all the gross and nasty stuff they show in movies and games, the one thing that they never show is a child getting killed, or even injured badly? Is there some kind of law disallowing it? And I don't mean they don't have child death in movies or games but they just hint at it only.
